Welcome to J&P Fishing Charters and Guide Services.

As a professional fisherman dedicated to providing my clients with the best fishing experiences, I use only the best equipment possible. Below you will find full product reviews of each of these products along with links to their websites.

Shimano Talora & Tekota : Sleek design, big beefy handle, smooth drags, great action rods.
Mercury Twin 225 EFI : Lots of giddy up and go to get us there. 9.9 4 stroke, quiet, no fumes, reliable.
Best hooks out there. Sharp and strong is what I need. I have literally thousands of baits and the last thing I need to be doing is replacing hooks constantly. With Gamakatsu I do not have this problem.
TR-1 Auto Pilot : In a word ... Awesome. Most boats need a mate, this little wonder is my best friend. I would fish without a fish finder before I would leave the dock without my TR-1.
I spend an average of 12-14 hours a day on the water. God gave me one pair of eyes. The last thing I want is to fry them in the blazing sun, compound that with the reflection off the water, you're just looking for trouble. The optics of the Maui Jim with the polarizing, I can see the fish in the water with no glare. These are BY FAR the BEST glasses I have ever owned!
Lowrance New IIC Combo Unit in colour 10" screen, state of the art. This beauty does it all. Fish finder GPS plotter, amazing unit.
In an average season I clean a ton of fish. Rapala knives are just the ticket with several sizes and shapes. They make a knife for cleaning all game fish. I am partial to the Pro Series with rubber handles with blade guard. Also wearing a normark glove is a valuable tool for avoiding mishaps with knives.
As a pro guide I fish in all weather. There is nothing worse than being cold and wet. With Helly Hanson this is not a problem. I wear the PolyPro underwear with a floater suit or bibs & coat and I'm dry and toasty, plus this stuff is breathable.
I use mostly deep Thundersticks and Junior Thundersticks off the planer boards for suspended walleye.
Burt’s Custom Tackle make great rod holders. I can count on these rod holders in the toughest conditions. They look great too.
Their Cannon Balls are chrome. I believe fish are attracted to it. Also, these Cannon Balls track straight avoiding tangles. Oh ya, they look good too.
Offshore tackle I use offshore in line boards for Lead Core and bottom bouncing harnesses. I also like the OR-3 and OR-4 release clips for the large boards and the riggers.
Dipsey Divers, Jet Dives, Diamond Kings, Hot Lips, Power Dives, just to name a few. These ae all key components on my boat for catching fish.
Best swivels on the market. I've used Berkely & Sampo. No comparison. I use Size 2 welded rings with a 65 lb. break strength.
With this new system you can "hear me before you see me." Sirus satellite radio means awesome sound eveywhere.
Tangleless nets mean more time fishing and less time untangling hooks in net mesh. Strong handles allow me to net several fish at a time.
Mann’s Bait company makes great crank baits that troll true. I use a lot of stretch: 15 , 20 & 25 off the big boards. They have a lot of hot colours. I especially like the Perch patterns.
I use a lot of spoons including Northern Kings, Michigan Stingers, and Pro Kings. The last couple of years I have used a lot more Silver Streaks. The colour selection and various sizes are a sure bet when fishing Erie Walleyes & Steelhead. Another spoon that worked very well for me are the new patterns of Blue Fox Matrixx Spoons.
I use Seaguar leader material on all my rigs. By far the best leader material out there.
I have used many different premium-fishing lines and P-line is the one I keep going back to very strong small diameter low stretch. All things that are important on my boat.
